In 2014, a group of 17 coffee farmers in the remote region of Argelia, Cauca, formed ARGCAFEE (Associacion de Transformadores y Comercializadores de Cafe Especiales de Argelia Cauca) to seek better markets and higher prices for their high-quality coffee. Today, the association has grown to over 230 members, with 150 actively producing coffee. ARGCAFEE is committed to improving the quality of life for its members while promoting environmental sustainability and social well-being in the region.<\/p>\n

In the first video<\/strong>, we meet the people behind ARGCAFEE and hear their story\u2014from their humble beginnings to the impact they\u2019ve had on the community through collective action and market access.<\/p>\n

Coca Substitution Program + Women Coffee Producer\u00a0Program: <\/strong><\/h2>\n

A New Path for Farmers<\/strong><\/h2>\n

One of ARGCAFEE\u2019s most significant initiatives is its Coca Substitution Program, created in partnership with Cafe Imports and Banexport. This program offers farmers an alternative to growing illicit coca crops by promoting coffee cultivation. In the second video<\/strong>, we explore how the program provides farmers with agronomic support, access to legal markets, and guaranteed higher prices, helping shift the local economy away from dependence on illicit crops.<\/p>\n

ARGCAFEE is also empowering women in coffee with its Women Producer Program. Currently, 78 women contribute, with more expressing interest. The program offers financial incentives for women\u2019s coffee and promotes their role in the coffee industry, with many women also participating in the Coca Substitution Program.<\/p>\n
